I have used commercial Teak cleaner and brightener with not 100% satisfaction. Mostly it looks good, but some black spots still exist.
Does anyone have a product or home remedy to clean these black spots before finishing teak and sealing the black spot in?

Those spots are mildeww. Use a weak solution of clorox and water with a soft scrub brush. There are many articles on this very topic..do a search thru the archives to find them.

Re: YES, use "Larrys' Chemistry Set"....
And, away go spots down the drain......!!
No luck ...
I spent just about every weekend until early August refinishing the teak on our CD33. We had let it go for about 4 years. I don't think anything gets all the black out of the grain in the teak. I've heard that it may be old, dried teak oil rather than mold. Whatever it is, I tried bleach without much luck. I ended up using TE-KA A & B and rubbing with a stiff plastic scrub brush. Even that won't get all the black out, but it helps. Then I applied 3 coats of Cetol, sanding between coats. Some people tell you not to sand between coats, but I don't know why anyone would do all that prep and then NOT sand. Sanding is what produces that smooth, varnish-like finish. Some people say you shouldn't sand because it removes some of the Cetol you've just applied. If you're worried about that, do 4 coats total instead of three.
When we bought the CD33, I thought it was a nice boat with a fair amount of teak trim. Now I feel like the boat is solid teak with a few pieces of fiberglass mixed in.
