Teak Veneer

Post by Bill Lawson »

Does someone know where to buy teak veneer in small quantities? I need to redo my pen board (TY) on the outside with new veneer. Around here it is a special order and I have to buy a piece 24" X 96". I only need 25"X 26"(high). Any suggestions? Thanks

A good source is a custonm cabinet builder in your area. Especially try builders that specialize in custom kitchen cabinets. They will usually have two types. One has a paper backing and the other has a phenolic backing (slightly thicker). Use the Phenolic backed veneer in a boat if the thickness doesn't present a problem. Be sure and use waterproof glue.

You can also try Woodworkers Supply, I think they carry it in 2'x8' sheets but theirs is backed with a fiber backing.

You can also try Rockler Woodworking. They carry it in 2'x2' sheets but I can't recall what it is backed with, I think paper.

You can also try marine wood suppliers advertising in Woodenboat magazine such as M.L. Condon and others.
