My CD28 has a rain leak on the port side where the cockpit scupper
hose come through. It's not the scupper.
Has anyone had a leak resulting from a problem with the hatch
on the cabin top? Should I take it off and check underneath ?
The strange thing is that it does not leak when I hose off the boat,
just when it rains. I sure could use some ideas on where to look.

Re: Rain leak
I found a leak on my CD 25 from under the "threshhold" in the companionway. The caulking had worn out and water only seeped in in an angled rain coming from the stern. I just caulked the gap between the wood and glass.

Re: Rain leak
Margrit - I own a 1978 Cd 28 that I purchased last year with a simalar problem. After rain we would notice water puddled on the shelves in the main cabin on both the port and starboard sides. One suggestion for you is to have a pressure test performed. Our yard had a large fan that they inserted in the companion way that would blow air into the boat. Places for air to escape were taped. The effect of this was that several pounds of pressure was created inside the boat. We then sprayed soapy water all over the boat and watched for the small bubbles to appear around ports, hatches etc. We were able to conclude by the mountain of small bubbles that one stanchion and three ports were leaking. Thats the good news. The bad news for us is that after sealing these problem areas our boat is still leaking! Perhaps you might have better luck!
