CD25 forestay Size ??

Post by Will W. »

I have looked everywhere available and either can't find or missed it, but does anyone know the size of the wire cable of the forestay for a CD25. I think it's 3/16. Can anyone tell me if this is right.
Thanks in advance.

Page 62 of the Cape Dory Owner's Manual for the CD25 (available for download on the CCDOA site) lists the forestay as 3/16" by 32'5". If you don't have a copy of the owner's manual it's easy to download and print from the site.

Wrong Number

Post by Will W. »

Hi Bob
I went back to make sure I had not lost my marbles completely, because I spent quite a while reading the manual on line as well as a copy that I own, that is a little different. There are no measurements listed in either manual for the stays on a CD25. The measurement you quoted to me Bob is from the CD25D, Which is a completely different boat despite the names implied similarity. I also did a search of the archives of this board and there I found the length of my forestay to be 28 feet, 7.5 inches, from pin to pin, but no size. What the manual on line did tell me is that the CD22 and the CD25D both use 3/16 wire cable. This is why I assume that the CD25 also uses 3/16 wire. If someone can let me know if my supposition is correct I will be most grateful.

Will - Sorry for the misdirection. I just assumed that the measurements would be the same. We all know what assuming does. I do think though that the 3/16" figure is correct. Hope you find more accurate information. It does seem strange that most every other CD manual lists the standing rigging dimensions. Good luck.
