Saving Elbow Grease Polishing Your Hull
I was waxing my cd 30C while getting her ready for the water this spring when a gentleman I had seen around the marina for a few years came up and said " Hey, you're doing that the hard way". He went on to suggest I get a bungi and hang the polisher from the life line. The bungi slides along the line as you move down the hull, supports the weight, and because of the elasticity allows you to get a pendulum effect that really speeds the work. I was done in less than half the usual time. After all the years of aching shoulders and hours of polishing, such a simple yet brilliant improvement. Try it. It's unbeleavable.

This spring someone gave me another hint on applying wax to my hull. Instead of rubbing on the wax and then buffing it out you apply the wax with the buffer. Just spread the wax on the buffing pad and apply to the hull. Buff until it dries or looks clean. Then when done just go back with a rag and wipe off the dried wax.Mike Burns wrote: I was waxing my cd 30C while getting her ready for the water this spring when a gentleman I had seen around the marina for a few years came up and said " Hey, you're doing that the hard way". This really helps to clean the boat well and it works the wax into the hull well plus you don't have to buff a shine into it. This works so well I may even wax my car this year

Re: Anti-fouling bottom wax
I have a 1999 Wellcraft Excalibur 45' power boat. The marina that I keep it at does not have high & dry lifts, so I have to leave it in the water. I don't want to bottom paint the boat since it will cut down the speed and greatly reduce the resale value. Does anyone know of a superior bottom wax that will hold up in a mostly fresh water area? I really don't want to keep on pulling the boat out of the water every 30 days and having the bottom pressure washed and acid washed.
