Greetings All!
Out of necessity I have removed the original (I think) 6 gallon holding tank from Zingara and tossed it. Both the holding tank and water tank (25 gallons?)sit under the V-berth. I am curious to know what other cd28 owners have as a water/waste configuration in terms of size and placement. Having 6-8 persons and a large cooler of beer on all day trips over the summer we found that the holding tank was just to small. I'm guessing the water tank is about 25 gallons and would consider putting a holding tank in that location but would appreciate if anyone can tell me specifically what configuration they have under the V and if they are happy with it. Thanks
Bill

Re: cd28 H. Tank Size + Location
'79 and later CD 28s have one holding tank under the forward part of the v-berth (I think it is around 15 gallons) and two 30 gallon water tanks, one under each berth in the main cabin. I have found this to be ample tankage, especially since my system allows me to discharge the holding tank through the hull when it is legal to do so. However, this arrangement takes up a lot of much needed storage space. Some owners have ditched one of the water tanks for this reason, but I wonder if that doesn't make the boat list to one side when the remaining tank is full.

To get more storage, I also ditched one of my water tanks plus all the piping and "stuff" that cluttered up the engine compartment. I did take out the tank on the same side of the fuel tank (which is a 12 gallon model) Works great for me-especially when I added three more "doors" to get at all the goodies stored in that area. To keep everything tidy I also installed 6 (I think) Rough Tote three gallon Rubbermaid storage boxes with the handles cut off to make a better fit.
Works great-and you don't lose anything!
