My CD36 owner's maunal shows a flexible disc is installed between the shaft and transmission after the shaft and engine are aligned. I'm the original owner and this disc was never there.
Has anyone seen this disc? The manual shows Cape Dory as the supplier.
It seems like a good idea to have a flexible coupling to absorb the inevitable changes in alignment. I hope to locate a supplier.

Shaft Coupling All CD's

Re: Shaft Coupling- 36
Jerry,
My 1982 '36 came with a coupling when I bought it used. The disk is orange with embedded nuts, and has pilots on the end that match the metal couplings. It has no markings that identify the manufacturer, but it looks sort of like the units that are advertised as "drive savers"

Drivesaver
Hamilton Marine is a major Drivesaver supplier. They have a website (link below) and they also send out a good catalog.Matt Cawthorne wrote: Jerry,

Vetus makes a good flexible coupler also. Others are on the market as well. I'm sure Boat U.S., West, Defender can all get them for you.
For Drivesaver applications you must use the following formula to calculate the correct unit.
Formula: Engine HP x 5252 x Reduction Rate Engine RPM
Re: Shaft Coupling All CD's
Parfait has one too (#84); I don't know if it is original, but the bolts are certainly rusted. I found a single sheet installation guide for the "Drivesaver flexible coupling" amongst the various papers and manuals I acquired with Parfait and it lists the item as being from Babbit Marine Products and manufactured by Globe Rubber Works, Inc., 254 Beech Street, Rockland, MA 02370; telephone 617 871-3700. Rockland is not far from W. Bridgewater and E. Taunton. In fact, Andy Vavolotis started out either in Rockland or very close by.
Globe is apparently still making the Drivesaver. See the link below for more info.

Re: Shaft Coupling All CD's
john deere calls this an isolator. if there is a john deere dealer in your area who sells 935 or 1145 mowers he may have one on the shelf. i believe the manufacturer is vetus and john deere is an end user.
