For my new loose footed main I rigged an outhaul as follows-just a tackle between the clew and the boom end. A Ronstan triple block on the eye at the end of the boom (the shackle has to be filed a bit to get it to fit thru), 3/16 line to another triple block with a cam-cleat (also Ronstan Series 19) shackled to the clew. I can reach up easily to adjust it. Probably only a double block is needed, but I could only find a triple with the cam-cleat.
I also rigged a whisker pole to hold out the jib sailing downwind. It kept the jib from flapping around but didn't seem to add to much speed. I'm thinking that an asymmetrical is probably the way to go.
And the new UK sails (main and jib) are great!!

Mike,
Have the new sails allowed you to tolerate more wind with less heel, as has been suggested by others with larger boats? Also, is the loose footed main giving you greater control of balance with reduced need to reef? Do you use a genoa?
