I need to replace the standing rigging on my recently purchased CD25D, hull #67. Current headstay is 3/16" , lower shrouds 5/32"etc. I was thinking of changing to 7/32" all the way around. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Standing Rigging CD25D ?

Re: Standing Rigging CD25D ?
I've never seen anyone suggest that *upgrading* to a larger size was even contemplated. These boats are fairly bulletproof... and if anyone is aware of a rigging failure with factory specs I'd be interested in knowing about it.

Re: Standing Rigging CD25D ?
Hello Don
I too have consider upgrading the size of the wire on Rhapsody (25D) when the time comes. I thought that I had read somewhere (Perhaps Mr. Vigor's book) that up-sizing the wire was a recommendation. That may not be a valid memory however....as I suffer greatly from CRS syndrome (sp).
I look forward to reading the reponses.

Re: Standing Rigging CD25D ?
I recently read of a fellow who upgraded the rigging of a Pearson Commander, another Alberg-designed boat, in preparation for a cross-Atlantic journey. My impression is that the Commander comes even more stoutly rigged than the CDs. I don't know that he needed to do so, but I suppose for peace of mind ... Besides, some folks wear suspenders and a belt!

Don
If you have a copy of Good Old Boat that contains the 25D review, read what it says under the section on recommendations...."I THINK" that is where I read the comments about up-grading the wire???????

Re: Standing Rigging CD25D ?
I would agree with Neil. These boats were really over built, especially the chainplates and rigging on the 25d. You could upgrade the rigging, but why? You'll be adding more weight aloft, and additional expenses. Good Luck..."Remember, advise is worth what you pay for it."
