CD Owners Registry

Post by C. Novack »

What am I doing wrong? After I bring up the CD site I select the Member Registry and a screen appears with several choices (state, model, year, normal). I select one of the choices (doesn't matter which one) and the screen briefly displays the first entry in the data base and then (after less thant a second) reverts back to the Member Registry choices screen. Anyone else having trouble or is it my lack of computer capability? Thanks, Chris

Just be patient. The sort is going on (either in your machine or in the server, not sure which). I just requested a sort and it took its usual 10-20 seconds on my machine. I have a T1 line which is why I think the sort is being performed locally (Catherine, do you know?).

As an aside, I downloaded the file and put it into an Excel spreadsheet. If anyone is interested, I could send it as an attachment (about 350K).

The sort, assuming this system is using ASP, is going on at the server, but the transfer of a file that large is going to take awhile. It could be set up to allow you access to what ever has been transferred, in this case you will see the slide on the right side of the screen keep moving down, or it could make you wait until the entire file is transferred. Unless your system is out of disc space the system will cache on to the disc what it can't get into the system buffers.

Bob was right, set it to sort and go eat dinner.
