On my 33' CD, the previous owner removed the outboard sheet tracks and replaced the toe and rub rail without reinstalling the outboard tracks. I now only have the inboard track, which hinders my sailing ability.
The task of drilling and installing the new outboard track is a daunting one indeed, requiring the removal of a lot of interior woodwork.
To save on the workload, I am considering installing the new tracks about 2" inside the toerail and thru-bolting them to backing plates on the underside of the deck.
My question is: does anyone know if it's feasable to install the sheet tracks on the deck of the 33 (with proper backing plates) and will the deck support such loads without damaging them?
Many thanks in advance.
