Shipping 22' Cape Dory

Post by Art Rovner »

I have just managed to procure a Cape Dory Weekender Sr. 22', but my problem is that I need to ship it from Miami to Burlington, VT. Does anyone out there have experience w/ similar size boat and route? Would greatly appreciate suggestions on a shipper.

My wife and I shipped our 26 successfully and reasonably using:

Marine Distributors Inc.
339 Market Street
Warren, R.I. 02885

In RI (401)247-0200
In Florida (305)882-9850

They ship boats for both manufacturers and private for all of North America. Fully insured, etc. Office in RI and Florida. Did not have any problems at ethier end and during transport. Price appeared to be by the mile, not by the pound at the time.

Art,
I just purchased Hanalei, CD-30, the end of March. It was located 10 miles from the ocean near Seabrook, NH. The owner of the yard suggested a man called Richard Morgenstern of R.E.M. Marine Service. He advertises reasonable rates (he was cheapest we could find), hauling, power washing, and shrink wrapping. He moved us from Seabrook to Mystic, CT for $500.00. Give him a call, he's located in New Hampshire, (603) 642-7834. Tell him I sent you, he did a good job!
