I recently went through this with with my 25D. Please look at my 4-14-98 inquiry and responses.
I eventually found the original supplier to Cape Dory and was able to obtain an "original equipment" type transom mounted swim ladder.
By the way, we tried a rope type ladder with rigid plastic treads but found it to be unsatisfactory because of the way it would move under the boat when we tried to climb. The rigid ladders in catalogs and boating supply stores for permanent installation did not seem to fit our transom shape.
