YSM-8 Zinc

Re: YSM-8 Zinc
The zink is a stubby rod that screws into the underside of a plug (looks like a pipe plug with a square on top) that is screwed into the top of the case ... near the front and just starboard of the centerline. First, unscrew the plug; make sure the inlet seacock is closed and watch out for your knuckles. You'll find the old zink (or what's left of it) screwed into the bottom of this plug.Steve wrote: Where is the zinc that needs replacement in the YSM-8 CD 27 engine? the plug can be found looking at the top of the engine it is just to the left of the centerline of the engine. it is about 6" back from the front of the engine. it has a 3/4" square or so top.Scott Ritchey wrote:The zink is a stubby rod that screws into the underside of a plug (looks like a pipe plug with a square on top) that is screwed into the top of the case ... near the front and just starboard of the centerline. I would suggest you get a manual or call mack boring. it would be better to remove the correct nut than the wrong one!
