New Motor for CD22

Post by Robert »

I recently purchased a pretty little CD22 with a wragged out old Evinrude that's unreliable. I'd like to buy a new 4 stroke motor, either Yamaha or Honda, and do not know much about them. Anyone have any ideas on what it will take to sufficiently power the boat, i.e. a Honda 5hp or a Yamaha 4 or will I need something bigger?

I had a Honda 4 stroke 5HP on a Beneteau First 21.0 and loved it. Extremely reliable, easy to start, and plenty of power, although the
First 21.0 only weighs about 2200#, so don't know how power will be on
your 22.

Also have a CD22 and replaced a 6.6 with a 2 stroke Evinrude 8HP. It is great but do believe that a 5HP will handle just as well
