This past Saturday the wind was blowing hard with 3-4 foot Buzzards Bay chop, rail in the water etc. Lots of fun! The rug on our CD25's cabin floor was soaked. Didn't think to taste the water too busy sailing. No amount of water in the bilge so we aren't sinking. The boat is dry when it rains. I guess if it happens again I'll taste the water. Could it be a deck and hull joint leak? Does the water ever come out of the vent for the water tank when jumping around in the chop? Or is it just bilge water that rolls around with heavy sailing?
Any ideas or do I just wish for more wind and chop to look into next time?

CD25 Water on Cabin Floor

Re: CD25 Water on Cabin Floor
With our CD25, we found that an astonishingly large amount of condensation from the outside of the icebox collected on the cabin sole. Mind you, there were also leaks through some deck hardware. Tasting the water is a good idea to help narrow it down--one of the advantages in sailing on salt water that we miss!

Re: CD25 Water on Cabin Floor
Tom,
The first time I was on my boat in nasty rainstorm (at anchor) I was amazed on how dry the boat was with the exception of the horizontal sliding hatch cover. I noticied that the end of the hatch cover where it overlaps the mounted cover housing has a gap that can allow water to enter if at a somewhat horizontal angle..perhaps a little rubber guard attached to the hatch cover could keep that little water out..

Re: CD25 Water on Cabin Floor
Tom,
I was sailing in 3-4 foot waves, heeled over with the port rail underwater for long periods of time. At one point we opened the sliding hatch and discovered a foot of water on the floor. The water must have been coming in through the vent for the head. I turned the switch to close the pump, stopping the water from siphoning in, turned on the bilge pump and continued the race. I don't know if your boat has this little stainless steel vent on the port side just ahead of the mast a few inches below the rub rail, but I would suspect that could be your problem.
