Hello to all;
I was surfing the Web the other day and came across the Pearson Ariel/Commander Site...seems back in the early '60s, Carl Alberg designed a little boat for Pearson called the Ariel, which bears more than a striking resemblance to the 25D...most of the specs are the same...does anybody have experience or knowledge of this piece of classic plastic? Could this be the 'Alberg 25' that survived the 1979 Fastnet Storm? (check out www.pearsonariel.org) TIA

Pearson 'Ariel' reincarnated as the 25D?

Ariels *look* a lot different to me: longer overhangs, slenderer fore and aft, more swing to the sheer, different cabin trunk (with doghouse), etc. As I recall, the Ariel was basically a scaled down, outboard-powered Triton. A pretty boat.

While wintering my newly acquired 25D in a boat yard in Patchogue, Long Island I could not help but admire the wonderful lines of two particular boats placed near mine- the CD25 and the Pearson Triton. Both boats are really beautiful to look at but not at all similar in looks and characteristics to the 25D. Actually I thought the Triton and the 25 have more in common than with my 25D. If anything the 25D speaks to sturdy.

Pearson 'Ariel' and 'Triton'
As Lou says, there is a very interesting website for these lovely Alberg-designed boats: http://www.pearsonariel.org
See also, for Tritons, http://www.tritonclass.org
Perhaps our own wonderful website could be linked to them, as it is to the Alberg 30 site.
