I've got a 25d and now have a new ( to me ) jib.
Now, how long is long enough for the jibsheets? is there some rule of thumb?
Thanks

Jib Sheet length?

Re: Jib Sheet length?
Use your old jib sheets to measure what you need. First measure what you need while sailing. Trim the jib to, say, the port side and then see that the starboard sheet can go around to the starboard side, through the jiblead block, around the winch 3 or 4 times and enough left over to tie off to a cleat (not that it will ever be tied off) and put in a stopper knot. Measure the length of that sheet.
Second, if you have a furler, then the same sheet should also wrap around the furled jib 3 or 4 times and then be long enough to wrap around the winch a few times and tied off.
Finally, the same sheet should be long enough to be tied off on the starboard side when the jib clew is poled out on the port side with a whisker pole (not that it will ever be tied off).
Whatever is the length of the longest measurement, then that should be the length of your new jibsheets.
Remember, measure three times -- cut once!

Re: Jib Sheet length?
The rule of thumb I've heard is 150% of boat length for a 150% genoa.
