Does anyone know if this engine uses zincs in the cooling system? None of the literature I have on the engine mentions it. I have zincs on the prop shaft and on the keel grounding plate but am not totally convinced that the brass innards of the heat exchanger are adequately protected.

I don't think so, but I could easily be wrong. Somewhere I read something about that, maybe in my owners manual? I will check next time I am at the boat.
Maybe someone else knows? Maybe it depends on the version?

There should be a screw-in zine in the heat exchanger. Not all Perkins 4.108's had them. If you have the thin skinned round heat exchanger that sits across the back of the engine then you have
one. If you have the heavy rectangular heat exchanger that is mounted fore and aft on the port side then you probably do not have one. I
asked the same questions of a Perkins mechanic and he assured me that my engine did not have one. It is rather discomforting to not have
one, but the heat exchanger is very heavy.

Matt is correct in his reply regarding the round exchanger that sits on the back of the engine. It has a zinc, on the port side I believe. If you have this exchanger, you may however have to cut some of the end of the zinc before screwing it in all the way.
