Lifting from keel ring

Post by Nick Pistolakis »

I know it has been asked before, so I apologize in advance. Can a Ty be lifted from the keel ring in the bilge. I have done it before on another Ty and was problem free, but am I pushing my luck?? If it can be used does anyone out there know of a sling that is being manufactured? We use a similiar setup on one design J/24's. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

"Typhoons and CD25's are NOT to be lifted by the eyebolt in the ballast. These were used at the factory to place the ballast in position in the hull during the boat's construction."

(From 1978 CD owner's manual, "NOT" emphasis per Cape Dory)
