Jib Lines on Deck Blocks-CD26
Yes, it's true. Every Spring when I haul the boat out, I get a bout of "sometimers". Sometimes I remember and well sometimes I don't.
When you run the lines from the jib sail through the deck block do you run them inside or outside of the inner/outer shrouds?
Same question for the Genoa Sail. Where do you run the lines.
How do you determine where to position the block on the track?
Thanks, DG

Re: Jib Lines on Deck Blocks-CD26
DG I too have a CD26... The jib is run on the inside of the shrouds and the Genoa is run on the outside. As for the position of the block, It's use for trimming the sail. It depends on the dimension of you sail. I set mine so I have an even pull on the Foot and the leech of the sail I'm useing. Yes, I too have suffered from "SOMETIMERS"

Re: Car position
There are two ways to determine car position:
Visually extend the line going from the deck block to the jib clew. It should contine to the center of the sail. Some sailmakers put a tape line on the clew to aid in the this positioning.
Or, you can check and adjust as you sail. Slowly luff the jib. If the foot flutters first, move the car forward. If the leech flutters first, move the car rearward. If the foot and leech both flutter together, you're in the right place.
It's a good idea to mark your car positions for each jib you have.

Re: Car position
We've always heard this described as a matter of getting the jib to luff simultaneously along the entire luff. Luff first at the top, move the car forward; luff first at the bottom, move the car aft.

I am curious
On the 26, where are the tracks for the fairleads, mounted??? On the 27 and 28, they are mounted on the toes rail, outboard of the shrouds.
Re: I am curious
On the CD 26 they are inboard, which is why CD 26 sailors forget every spring. It makes for some awkward sheeting angles if you get it wrong. It would be nice to have them outboard of the shrouds.Mark Yashinsky wrote: On the 26, where are the tracks for the fairleads, mounted??? On our CD 27 (#181, 1980), the genny tracks were mounted on the rails but the jib leads were mounted on the cabin top.
