Re: cruising
Marv,
I also live in SC, up in Columbia. I have owned a CD 27 and it is a great boat. I am kinda booked up for this summer, but if you need experienced crew to do some more local cruising, I would be happy to show you what I know. I have worked the ICW from the Chesapeake to Panama City, Florida and know it pretty well. I also know much of the coastal areas of NC, having lived on the Outer Banks for a while. I have a 100 ton masters license and 200 ton mate with auxillary sail endorsement.
A good introductory cruise would be to sail from Georgetown to Charleston. Another would be to sail from the Port Royal area to or from the north. Do some cruising up the waterway and such. If you can make it up to the sounds of NC, that area is a good place to gain some experience with your navagation, sailing techniques, anchoring... There are also some great places to see.
Where are you located now?
If I can be of help let me know. My number is 803-463-2560.
