CD 28 Bulkhead Table Mount

Post by Wayne van Citters »

I have CD 28 Hull #36. Pu'uhonua needs a new salon table as I cannot find the support stanchions for the one she came with (it's also pretty heavy and awkward to deal with). I see that later models (maybe even 1980) have a table that folds in half and swings up against the port bulkhead. Could a 28 owner take a few pictures of the mounting for this kind of table and send them to me? You could e-mail me digital pictures or send to:

Sure would appreciate it.

Wayne:
FWIW, the 30 has the same table, if you have a chance to look at one. I'll also be glad to send photos and measurements, if needed. email me.

Wayne,

Here is what they are doing on the Robinhood 36. Parfait and probably most CD36s have a similar arrangement. I don't know if the dimensions are the same across all boats, so you'd better get them from a 28 owner.

Wayne, I have CD 28 Hull #10 and I just took out the original Salon Table. Too big and very much in the way. I have small children and my biggest concern was that they were going to "land" on it someday on their way down the commpanionway. Anyway, I have a friend who came up with a very good idea for a bulkhead table using the existing table as the basis. He took the leaves of the original table, bolted them together with the existing hinges and build his own support base for it. It already matches the interior and looks great. Out of the way most of the time and still big enough when you need it. I have some pictures if you would like to see them. He and I are not the most capable marine carpenters but this is something he and I can both do. Let me know if you want to see the result. Jeff Howlett, Bristol, RI
