Are these spider cracks something you inherit when you own a cape dory? I looked at two 25d models today and both had alot of this type of cracking on the deck. One 31 in our marina had the same and 10k later had a new deck. Is the cracking to be expected with the majority of them? thanks for your help. craig

I believe spider cracks in the surface gelcoat are common "wear and tear" in any boat over a few years old, Cape Dory or otherwise. As far as I know, they are a cosmetic problem and are no cause for alarm. I hope the 10k was spent for more than the repair of a few harmless gelcoat cracks!
