Propane Tank "hold down" ???

Post by Larry Austin »

I bought a 10lb aluminum propane tank today (to fuel my bbq) I put the tank in the propane locker (Cape Dory MKII has a locker that can hold 2 tanks) There is a "L" bracket on the wall in the locker to attach I'm thinking a hold down bracket. My question is: where can I buy somekind of hold down bracket? Went to the boating stores, sears, lowes, home depot, ect.

Also, if anyone has idea or advice on how to hold down the tank I'd
appreciate it!!

Thank You

On RESPITE the locker holds two 2 CNG tanks in a fore/aft orientation mounted horizontally. Cape Dory used a yoke arrangement above & below the tanks with a threaded bronze stud and twist knob. The stud is about 8" long and maybe 1/4" diameter and secured to the shelf below the tanks. The yokes, which are some hardwood, are matched to the diameter of the tanks and prevent any side to side movement. When the knob is screwed down the tanks cannot move fore and aft.

The setup is simple and holds heavy tanks securely. Anything less could possibly damage the gas lines/fittings. Be careful.
