Rain Getting in and Automatic bilge pump for CD 22 Typhoon Senior?

Post by milliken61 »

We bought a Typhoon Senior 22 last year and love sailing it on Lake Champlain in Vermont and New York. It does take on a bit of water in when it rains and we have to pump the bilge when we get on board. We are wondering if other Typhoon Seniors have rain leaks and any solutions you would suggest. We have caulked extensively and cover the hatch when we are not on board and that seems to help. We pump the bilge by hand when we get on board. It is doable but a bit awkward. We are hoping to install an automatic bilge pump but cannot figure out the best way to run the hose and wires from the bilge to the cockpit scuppers or overboard. We can install a battery in the cockpit locker and potentially a solar charger. We would greatly appreciate hearing any solutions for reducing rain leaks and experience and suggestions for installing and using an automatic bilge pump and routing hose and wire. Thanks, Andrew
