Hatch Replacement

Post by Randy Cadenhead »

After 40 some odd years, the "Lucite" (or whatever) portion of the forward hatch on my CD 27 is starting to leak. The hatch itself is still good and I'd prefer not to replace otherwise good original equipment. Any thoughts on clear material to use and what sealant is best?

TAP Plastics will provide polycarbonent [lexan] lens cut to size. Light gray tint [57%] with UV protection. Have them cut to size with 1" radius corners. Good price and fast delivery. I used 3M VHB bonding tape and Dow 995 black structural silicone sealant to install lens. As black paint on aluminum was in bad shape repainted with high performance enamel Rustoleum aluminum color spray paint.

Search for Replacement lexan on board and you should see the thread for more information.
