Table post in CD25 cabin

Post by rickmurray »

Hello friends....

I have a 1979 CD 25 (engine in lazarette, not a "D") and there is a metal centerpost in the cabin to put a table top on. Is that post removable?...does it unscrew from the sole?...before I start honking on it with vigor I'd like to know if it is even possible.

Thank you so much!

Rick, if I remember right there's a clamp screw but then it just pulls out. I had to saw mine off and hammer and chisel out the corroded-on ring from the mount attached to the sole.
I think I bought a replacement tube at McMaster Carr. I could have just accepted a lower height table.

Yes - it is removable. My 1979 Cd25, hull #713 has been my boat since 1984. I did remove that post & table to provide more “room” for several years but I did reinstall the post & table about 6 years ago. I seem to remember some sort of base, but the post just came out = it was a tight fit, but it came out OK. Likewise I was able to reinstall it later. If you need a photo of my table let me know.
