She is full and by, all flags flying, out of East Harbor on Fisher's Island, NY making way for Noank Harbor in Connecticut. The Captain is at the helm and the new Admiral is seated on the bridge deck, comfortably in the cockpit surveying all that the Captain does!

Armada?
I seem to remember D.Stump saying that he uses Armada. This looks good from afar...are there any close ups of the Armada job? I'm struggling with the teak finish decision.

Re: Armada?...Not yet....
Jim,
Actually the picture was taken when Hanalei was still in varnish. I stripped that all off 2 years ago, and oiled her for a year. Oil is just TOO much work. So, last weekend, I cleaned all the teak with Larry DeMers Ajax chemistry concoction(see previous posts), sanded it with 100 grit sandpaper, and applied the Armada satin finish. It looks great, but is not finished yet, that's for this coming weekend. When finished, I'll see if I can get some pictures.
By the way, using a bristle brush, the Armada went on very easily with a minimum of drips. Also, we used a cheap drop cloth material that is plastic sheet on one side and paper on the other. This seemed to catch the drips and hold them in place without soaking through to the fiberglass underneath.

Re: Armada?
I have been using Armada and like it's color, however it takes too long to dry (2-3 days).I think I'm going to add a little Japan Dryer in the future.Jim Adams wrote: I seem to remember D.Stump saying that he uses Armada. Zeida,
We can't put pictures here, only links to pictures. You have to put the picture on Net somewhere (your server space) and just put the URL into the image URL field.

Re: Armada...time to dry
Where are you located? I'm in Houston...temps in the high 80's to low 90's with the usual 5000% humidity. Should I have better luck on the drying time between coats? Thanks.

Re: Armada?...Not yet....bleaching??
I read that string. I was unclear as to the conditions that would require you to use the bleaching procedure. Is it only to remove discoloring? If so, do you have to do all of it in order to get uniform coloring or only the damaged areas? Or is this standard procedure? I'm going to review all the posts again, try to compile them into a procedure (most strings only deal with parts of the process) and post what I plan to do this weekend for comments.

Re: Armada?...How Much?
One more question...How much Armada did it take to refinish? I assume you did all exterior teak. How many bristle brushes did you go through? Thanks again.
