Boom position on CD25

Is there a set formula as to the attachment height of the boom to the mast on a '74 CD25 or is it a function of the mainsail cut?
I'd like to add a canvas canopy to my cockpit but as it is rigged now, there doesn't seem to be enough room with the boom riding so low. Any thoughts?

There is a sailplan that provides for the location of the boom, height of sail above boom, etc. I believe the 25 has a sliding gooseneck, so you can cheat; that is, cut the main shorter. Alternatively, and commonly where I sail, you can put a "bimini reef" in the main, thereby allowing you to raise the boom with the topping lift enough to increase clearance a tad. Call your sailmaker. He or she will know, and can make suggestions. I've sailed a 25 quite a bit, however, and a lot of headroom under a bimini is not a strong suit. So far as I know, you have to get to the 31 to really get comfortable.

I think I need to find that Bimini Reef line on Parfait. The boom definitely will not clear the bimini under sail. So much to do, so little time.
