Our data marine depth sounder on our 1989 CD 30 MK II does not work and I would like to remove the old transducer and use same hole for new transducer. The install from the outside looks like a flat bulb centerline at bow. From the fore peak there is an access to what looks like a rectangle shaped plastic nut. But deep and narrow hole so cannot get a bite on it. If anyone removed and replaced would appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you.

Re: Depth Sounder Transducer Removal
Hi Steve,
I removed a Datamarine depth sounder from my CD30 a few years ago. Cannot recall the specifics of it, but did opt to not use the same hole and offset mounting piece. Opted instead to make a simple internal holder (pvc pipe, 4200, cap on top with gasket, filled the unit with some anti freeze).
Ended up filling the hole in the hull. In retrospect I would have left the old transducer in and proceeded with the rest as described above.
The boats coming out next week and will be in the same spot if you want to swing by and see the setup.
Thanks
