Can a wheel and pedestal be retrofitted to a CD-30 with tiller? My wife and kid are more comfortable with a wheel. Thanks in advance for any information.

Wheel retrofit for CD-30 with tiller

Re: Wheel retrofit for CD-30 with tiller
Yes. Ours was fitted with a wheel afterward, by a previous owner. Edson can give you information on which steerer to use, and instructions on installation, I believe. Ours still has the tiller head just aft of the pedestal base, making for easier (theoretically) attachment in an emergency, and also a minor toe basher. Had ours not had a wheel, I don't think I would have added it; always had a tiller. Good luck.

Re: Yes, contact Edson...
Yes, it can be done. Your best bet would be to contact Edson Marine and follow their advice. This will NOT be cheap, but Edson can provide you with everything you will need. They can also supply a parts layout that will show you what is entailed. I think you can get that off the net at Edson.com. One thing, ANY fitting bolted through deck, the hole needs to be sealed so that the core is NOT exposed to moisture. Basically drill the hole, fill it with epoxy, and redrill to final size. This will keep your core dry.

Re: Should be edsonmarine.com....
The net address is edsonmarine.com. Look at "design team" that will tell you all you need.
