Looking for Capt. Jon (Sovereign)

Post by David Miller »

Capt. Jon,
I tried accessing you by email on the sovereign site but had a problem with my server. I also have a 25 Cape Dory and am looking to replace the outdated baby blue grip paint on the decks. After browsing your site I was really impressed with the beige deck paint on Sovereign and was wondering if you have any suggestions on color and make. Any and all help would be appreciated. Going by the pictures, Soveriegn must be quite a head turner in the harbor.
Thanks,

David Miller "Coquina"

Hi David,

I really don't know what color the beige is and I can't get the search feature to work. Does anyone else out there know of a good match? All I can suggest is a color chip chart, like Awlgrips. I know they have two different deck paint types - course and fine. As Cape Dorys are as fine as boats get, I'd suggest the latter.

Does anyone know what color beige it is?

Jon,
Try Interlux Bristol Beige. I have used it inside the engine compartment and it looks pretty close to the same color on the decks. They make a one part Polyurethane that works real nice. It is also available in Enamel.
