Hi everybody,
question.... How many rings of packing do you use when replacing such in stuffing box? For years on my cd 36, I have managed to get three rings in.
I now notice that spartan sells precut flax packing... two in a pack.

Feeling Better Already Re: stuffing box flax packing
Charlie,
I am glad to hear the Robinhood thinks two rings is enough.
I tried my best to get three rings into Parfait's stuffing box and did not really succeed. We used the West Marine DripLess materials and I had to scrimp on the green teflon stick in order to get even two rings of flax. I tried to be certain that the flax rings were well-saturated on the outside with the green teflon goop and it seems to be working just fine.
