Grounding Plate
Should the grounding plate be painted or just cleaned up and left exposed to the water? If painted, should I use regular bottom paint or something else?
Re: On & Off....
JD,
Clean it with "ON & Off" hull cleaner and a light brushing, this will clean out all the little critters, brighten it up and still maintain the maximum surface area for the ground. DON'T paint it, it needs to be exposed to the water. FWIW...

grounding plates have thousands of tiny holes so the surface area is thousands of times greater than it would be if they were flat - as d. stump says, don't paint it, that would fill the holes and defeat its purpose
