1976 Cape Dory 30 Ketch to Cutter

Post by Damian »

Hi all, I’m looking to buy a 1976 Cape Dory. This yacht was previously a Ketch but has had the aft mast removed and is being sold as a cutter. Can anyone confirm if the main mast would need to be moved towards aft to balance the boat or were the Ketch and the Cutter produced with the main mast in the same position?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Damian

The mast on the cutter is stepped further aft than the main mast on the ketch.

Thanks Jim, I thought this would be the case to balance the boat.

Kind regards
Damian.
