Heeling in a Typhoon

Post by Craig »

Since the search function doesn't appear to be working, I'll have to post the question. For a Typhoon Weekender what is the optimum heeling angle for the various points of sailing? For my Laser II I try to keep her as flat as possible, but I know that this isn't necessarily the case for the Typhoon given the overhangs. Appreciate any comments on the subject.

Craig, Typhoons are great fun to sail. So close the water you feel like your going 20 knots. When wind it good, and closehauled, we like to heel with the rail just above the water. Water line and speed increases a bit, too. Our Typhoon is very forgiving. If you feel out of control, let go of tiller and/or main sheet, and she rounds right up.
