I have a 76 cape dory 25d and have been flying a 150% geona. I am thinking about upgrading to a roller fuller and was hoping for suggestion or comments. Please let me know of any horror or success cases. Thanks.

The roller is one of the best things I've added to Sovereign - should have done it years ago. I put a Harken with the flexible foil on my 25, and I really like it. The PVC foil with stainless wire reinforcement is nearly indestructible. I think the mast is a bit taller on a 25D than on a 25, so I'm guessing you will need to pick up an extra lenth of the foil for your boat if you go this way. My 25 used all but 4" of one length.
Be sure the foil goes all the way up to the top, and the sail goes all the way up the foil, else it won't roll up. Also, you may want to replace the headstay now, as it will henceforth be concealed within the foil and not easily available for inspection.

Have used Harken for many years, and have found on my Catalina 25 that the Harken Unit OO is perfect for such a boat! The old unit was made for rolling up when trailing. The new unit, Unit 00AL is for permanent placement. This should be perfect for the CD 25!
If you need sails, check with folks like Sail Warehouse in California and see if they have a package deal for both the furler and sail!!

I also have the Harken II on my CD30, and it's one of the nicest things I ever did for myself. I'm so lazy now, I rarely raise the Yankee anymore! My furler is now four years old, and I haven't even replaced the furling line yet. Takes a bit of practice to tack the sail "through" the forestays; in a strong wind you may want to partially furl the sail first. But it's worth every penny. A good friend also swears by Furlex.

25d or 25 w/diesel?
I didn't catch the date and the D before. If you've got a 25 with a diesel installed, the single length of Harken HeliFoil will fit just fine, unless you've also put a taller mast on the boat.

I have a foam-luff 110/140% roller-furler on Coquina, and had one on my folkboat. It's great for sailing on and off the mooring, but I think performance suffers when it is shortened, compared to a working jib.
