Ran across an interesting product for those who do the
offshore passage thing.

Very Ineresting, particularly for those of us with small CD's

It opens the oceans to us!

The 200 model looks like the one to get. The small (100) model has no pre-filtration.

Thanks for the link!

Interesting.. a pretty expensive piece of shark bait? Otherwise, good idea. Wonder if it has been reviewed anywhere. For $2k, it is pretty pricey for a small RO device.

Larry,
It means reverse osmosis, the process utilized in decontaminating water. There are many brands of "RO" units in the marine marketplace.

What would such a device do to boat speed? And how often would you need to empty and re-deploy the device to get the rated 24 gpd?

Larry; The smaller unit is only about $600 U.S. Look at the powered
watermakers and 2K isn't too bad.

Read all the links on their web site. They go thru all these points and more. Anyone want to try it and give us a real world report???

We have one of these watermakers

Mark, Don,
we got a Waterlog (200 version) just over a year back to replace our excellent but leaky maintainence & power hungry one. There is no question that this is the way forward for making water, very small- solid stainless steel- portable- no fitting & no power needed. A few points though. 1/You have to slow the boat to pull it back on board 2/Dont expect the water to pour aboard like a faucet. It takes about 2 1/2 hours/day to get all the water we need. Our last one took about 40 mins but beating hell out of the batteries. 3/Would we buy again ? Yes. Its works well, no fitting and good price. Oh! and dont use it inshore. Coral reef. Forgot we were towing it. We had to replace the prop- $93 -lucky we didnt lose it altogether ! Wont do that again. Fair winds. David
