Cockpit drain hose.

Post by Wilson »

I have a 18.5 Typhoon Weekender with a clogged cockpit drain hose. Because the hose from the cockpit to the hull valve does not run straight and has a kink in it I cannot run a clean-out snake down it. Any ideas on how to remove the clog short of removing the hose?

Thanks, Mark

Mark

I use a small bathroom plunger. The one I have is the yellow color model from Home Depot. Has worked for me for years.

You can try a garden hose with nozzle pressure from below and above.

it's why I always prefer black rubber hose for drains. no kinks. unfortunately my boat has a lot of the corrugated type which I consider inferior .. but .. one of these days.

If the hose has a kink in it then that would seem to be the problem and it should be replaced, Steve.
