I have just purchased a 1985 Typhoon Weekender that has only seen the water one summer. There is no motor mount that I could see. I would like any information on the type normally used or where one could inquire to find information. Also what size motor is normally used for this boat ?

Typhoon Weekender ... Motor Mount

Re: Typhoon Weekender ... Motor Mount
I have a 1971 Typhoon Weekender which has the factory motor mount. It is a bronze mount which attaches to a bronze piece on the stern of the boat. It is not transom hung. You may try some of the mounts made for Hershoff's boats. There is an outfit called Tradiational Marine Outfiters somewhere in Nova Scotia or Maine which may have one that will do.
I use a 3.5 outboard. It originally had a British "eggbeater" type motor which would have suited the classic lines of the boat better but the orignal owner wanted to keep it. I don't blame them. I think it was a Seagull or something like that.
You will love your boat. Welcome.

Re: Typhoon Weekender ... Motor Mount
George,
Spartan Marine is still casting what appears to be the original Typhoon engine mount. Although I have not checked the measurements against my own Ty's mount, I believe this bronze mount is identical. The selling price is around $337, and it is displayed in their catalog on page 19. Call them at 800-325-3287. Location: Maine.
