I am looking for a service manual for a Universal 18 horsepower diesel engine. Does anyone know where I can locate one? Has anyone made any service manuals available on-line, similar to what has been done for the Cape Dory factory manuals?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Universal Diesel 18HP Service manual needed
Chesapeake Marine Engines will order most manuals and ship to you by mail. (410 269 1903) This one costs about $28, I think. They also find and ship spare parts. For the Universal manual online see http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/unive ... lcome.html

Bob: Try this link. They have manuals on line, as well as parts and price lists. Or, you can order from them a hard copy.

Re: Universal Diesel 18HP Service manual needed
Bob, Just a point of interest. Are you sure your engine is 18 hp? Although the manual says 18hp for the model 25 three cylinder, I spoke with a service rep at Universal in the days before they sold the business who told me that Universal re-worked the three cylinder diesel and increased the horsepower to 21, therefore I should get 18 hp out of my head and remember that my engine is 21 hp. The model numbers do not indicate the horsepower on the Universal diesels. Now if you're talking about the two cylinder then disregard the above and as Emily Latella used to say on SNL - never mind! I believe I remember reading on this BB that model 18 is 15 hp.Bob Ohler wrote: I am looking for a service manual for a Universal 18 horsepower diesel engine. Does anyone know where I can locate one? The Universal Model 18, although frequently advertised by brokers as "18 hp", is really only 14 hp. This is the engine that powers my CD 30. Good engine and adequate for most circumstances. Of course, I do have a 3 blade prop.
