Death of Peter van der Kam

Nora called this morning with the sad news of her husband Peter van der Kam’s passing on Sunday, Feb. 20th. This comes on the heels of their son Gregor’s death on January 10th. Nora is devastated.

Peter was a founding member of the CDSOA and a past Commodore as well as Fleet Captain for the Chesapeake Fleet. He was a real character with a dry wit and could spin a great tale. He will be missed.

I will provide more info when I have it.

This hurts. Peter was one of the first Commodores of the CDSOA. He was a “regular” in all of the Chesapeake Fleet cruises. His wit made him fun to be around. He will be missed.

It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that we share the loss of our dear son/brother Gregor John van der Kam on January 10, 2022 and husband/father J. Peter van der Kam on February 20, 2022.
