CD 22 REFIT

My wife and I are just about three more weeks away from finishing a total refit on what we now call Absolute Wonder.We had gotten info back concerning the use of propane frig and found with that info it is not a good idea, thanks it saved us alot of hassle.

Now the final paint will go on the decks including new nonskid and we will have about one week left to finish the main cabin area and are thinking about not only replacing the wood but also remodeling ,Does anyone have any experience on the 22's that can give us some ideas while we have it torn apart and are getting ready to put back?

Hello John,
Did you do any kind of refit to the main salon area or did you make do with what was there and how it was laided out?LikeI said we are doing a refit and part of it is inside .What would be your suggestions on make this space more usable like one thing I am going to do is under the strb.side house we are making a shelf and incorperated in it will be a pullout chart table.What or did you use a table down below?Our thoughts on that is to make a small removable table to use both in the main cabin plus use in cockpit.
Did you refrigeration? One thing we are being very careful about is the wieght.

Hi Joe and Gail,

I own a 1982 CD22 which I converted to a "D". Love it! I am planning to install a removable counter piece between the sink counter to port and the starboard counter for use during meal preparations. With the stove on the starboard side, counter space is in short supply and I think this will help. It will probably be 1/2" ply and covered in matching white formica with a low matching teak trim front and back. It will simply slide onto teak cleats screwed into the sides of the cupboards so that it is the same level as the present counter tops. After meals it can be removed and stored under a quarter berth cushion or some other out of the way spot.

Hi Joe,
It sounds like your convertible table is a great idea. We did not do refrigeration, cannot help you there. We used the ice-box that came with the boat. I installed a solar panel to keep the battery charged. We duplicated the lower hatch panel in plexiglas. Then installed compass, depth, and speed in the plexiglas. Used quick disconnect plugs for all of the connections. The plexiglas gave some added light below when the boat was closed, due to inclement weather, and we were out sailing. The battery on our boat was below the cockpit sole, and behind the companion-way ladder. I built a bracket to keep the battery from flying around while we were healing or in rough water.
