I use an iPad mini aboard the Far Reach. Mostly I use it for downloading wx faxes from my SSB receiver.
I usually laid it on some dry-bunk on the chart table to keep it from sliding around. I also use it for back up navigation or to check my celestial to make sure I am making landfall in the Caribbean and not in Africa.
But I needed a better way to secure it. I did not want to install a permanently mounted bracket.
So, I used a piece of scrap teak from my old dorade box lid and some bronze and leather. I tried it out today. The leathered bronze hooks over the fiddle for the navigation book shelf. I can move it left or right. Totally removable. Same basic concept I used for the bino box design and construction.
I tried out both a RAM mount and Design 67 which are off our Jeep. I like the 67 Design better. More secure and a little more elegant. But, they both work.
