although it required one more trip into the locker with a dull chisel and a "convincer" hammer, i now can adjust the stuffing box nuts from the cabin with the new "distal linear straight wrench"...now when i look into that locker i'll think of you

Someone else said to put a piece of carpet over the engine when you do this. I thought that was an excellent idea, I hate it when I rip up my knuckles trying to get into tight spots.
