Captain Hook:
I am very happy all is well, or as well as can be expected given the size and strength of Ida.
I assume that with a Generac that you were able to maintain (and have) an adequate supply of medicinal Guinness.
As the situation permits we will look forward to your updates.
BE SAFE; STAY SAFE

Re: Here we go again
The worst of Ida has finally left Niceville. We just need the wind to lay down so the water level goes back to normal. Then the clean-up begins!
Fortunately, our docks & boats came thru safe and secure.

Wow, that photo shows more storm surge than I expected that far east of the storm center. Glad you made it through OK.
Smooth sailing,

Well into cleanup.
Will be a while before we get power from Entergy. It's starting to trickle into parts of Nola.
Starting to have some groceries open. Bares shelves and long lines but that will improve.
Also a few gas stations in operation, long lines there.
They're telling every that can to leave and if you evacuated to stay away until things get better.
We're staying put and continuing withclean up. We're well provisioned and don't need to travel far.
Things are improving.
I can't believe how just having running water is such a relief.

Re: Here we go again
Roger that Capt Hook. And what really sucks is it is ridiculously hot and humid after a big hurricane like that and there is usually no power so no AC. Glad you're OK.Capt Hook wrote:Well into cleanup.

How did the roof of your house make out?

Capt Hook,
Thanks, yet again, for the update. Very glad to hear you are doing OK. Hope all is well at the marina also!

Re: Here we go again
Made it out to the marina this morning.
Kumbaya is fine.
Most boats looked OK.
I saw one boat that lost a mast.
Several boats that had jibs on their furlers had damage.
All in all we came off pretty well.
Even starting to see some gas stations open but REALLY LONG lines, some blocks long.
Many groceries open too.
Some power coming on but VERY LOW %.

That's good news Capt Hook.
And out in the Atlantic the term "rack snd stack" comes to mind. Larry looks to be worrisome though it's too soon to tell. Already has winds to 80 mph.

Captain Hook:
That is good news, especially about S/V Kumbaya.
I am sure your Generac is worth its weight in gold right about now. Hopefully you have enough petrol to keep it running.
TV reports are suggesting electric co. thinks it will be a month for most electric to be restored in most of LA. Hopefully, this is a case of "under promise; over produce".
John:
Until Hurricane Larry is north of 35N Lat I will not rest easy. I have seen too many storms that did "loopty loops" (technical NHC term for "wow, we didn't predict that turn") and came back to kick someone in the butt.

Re: Here we go again
Roberto,
Thanks for your concern. The Generac doesn't use petrol. It uses natural gas, same as my stove and heating system. So I don't have to scrounge and transport petrol. Don't know how much that would take for nine or ten days. We're supposed to have power tomorrow but when I look around I don't see that happening. Things are progressing but I think we're still a few days away from power at my house.
