If I owned a smaller boat, I would still find the largest capacity bilge pump I could find that would fit. In a small boat, you don't need much water to sink it. I would want to pump that water out faster than I would on a larger boat, especially if the hole the water coming through was fairly large. This was recommended somewhere in my reading and it sounded like it came from an experienced seaman when I read it!
