Curtains...is there a scource?

Post by Patrick Turner »

I can't seem to succesfully conduct a search so a post will have to do. I seem to recall a previous post re: curtains. Is there a scource for pre-made CD curtains and the hardware that goes along with it?

Would also be interested in what others have done for curtains.

We used over old curtains as a template, reused the old hardware(including the CD hull logo). We bought the material at a fabric store (2nds, but you can' tell) and lined the backs. Est. time to make 16 was probably 40 man hours, but I'm not the fastest sewer.

Good Luck.

East Coast Embroidery still makes OE curtains for Cape Dorys, logo and all. Andy V.'s brother-in-law or something like that. I think they quoted something like $260 for my CD30. I can't seem to locate the phone number. I'm balking on the $260 and thinking of using the same sunbrella material that I'm having sailcovers, and soon a bimini made of. Haven't quite decided on the color, thinking tan or brass.

In addition to "<a href="http://www.eastcoastlogos.com/">East Coast Embroidery</a>," you can also try "<a href="http://www.windowsbyl.com/default.html">Windows by Lucille</a>". They're not difficult to make if you'd like to try your own hand at sewing.

We approached East Coast Embroidery and were told that the curtains for our boat came in a set of 10 for around $300. Mintaka, a CD 40, has 11 ports, and we were told we had to buy 2 sets to get the 11th curtain! We made our own at a fraction of the cost and they look great.
