HF weather fax

Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

HF weather fax

Post by JD-MDR »

I'm getting the hang of it! It's just as easy as JS described. I borrowed a ipad for now, downloaded a $5 Blackcat App, . bought a used SW radio and found out today that the earbud works better than using a cable or just putting the radio close to the ipad. Also unplug the charger. These were from my home in the suburbs of L.A. I'm sure I'll get much better reception out at sea. I am trying to figure out how to make a better antenna. I bought the Sangean external SW antenna for $15.
There is a lot to figure out how to read these maps. and the different areas. this is area 4 from the PT. Reyes station . You can make out the Baja Peninsula and the west coast of Mexico.. The first photo shows area 1 over . Alaska peninsula and B.C.
Oh I also found an adjuster. It's for slant adjustment. Whatever that means. but when I put it up to 10 I really got a big improvement. See on the top between the + and - is the number 10
